Underwood will play alongside True Blood's Stephen Moyer as Capt. Von Trapp. The three-hour special will air on December 5th. Today Underwood tweeted out a first look at herself in the iconic role. Exciting news for fans of True Blood. Stephen Moyer, who plays Bill Compton on the HBO series, will star in NBC's live holiday production of The Sound of Music. Moyer will play war veteran and single dad Capt. Von Trapp in the three-hour show. He'll star alongside Carrie Underwood, who is set to play Maria. The special will air on December 5th.
