Review: Bitter's Kiss - Bitter's Kiss

For those that love indie pop music, I have a new face to introduce you to. Bitter's Kiss is a project formed by New Jersey artist Chloe Baker that focuses on the realities of our everyday lives. She may seem like an innocent and naive girl, but with her self-titled album you'll see that's not quite the case. She truly delivers a whole new persona here.

The album is an eight track anecdote that delves into everything from her experiences to her thoughts. While she may be young, Baker has a maturity that goes well past her years. It's this perspective that allows her music to stand out from anything else around today. It should come as no surprise that she is a favorite in Northern Jersey.

One of my favorite tracks off the album is her title number. In it, you get to really hear Baker's melodically high, pure and polished voice. Unlike other indie pop singers, her voice is classic and emotive. Besides the title track, "Rope" is one that really stands out. However, this one is a must-listen because of the lyrics. Baker sheds some light on teenage depression and suicide. With lyrics like "Do your angels keep you waiting? How much longer can you cope? There's a quicker way to Heaven, if you can find yourself a rope," people can get much more insight into what these issues feel like. After all, depression and suicide is often something we hear about but don't actually deal with.

With an artist like Baker on the rise, music is on the right track. Bitter's Kiss is exactly what we need. Take a listen to her music today!
