Terra Nova - Occupation, Resistance - Season Finale Recap

Terra Nova's epic 2 hour season finale reminded fans exactly why they fell in love with the show in the first place. It was action packed and unlike shows of old, questions were actually answered.

Terra Nova is preparing for the 11th pilgrimage and the possibility of a war breaking out once it gets there. Everything starts off okay with families coming through. Josh's girlfriend even makes it through. Unfortunately for him, her time in Terra Nova is short. The next person out has a bomb strapped to their chest and blows up everything in the vicinity. Jim is injured and Cara is killed.

Jim is unconscious for 3 days. A lot happened while he was taking a nap. Lucas and Co have taken over Terra Nova and along with the Sixers and their own private military, are wreaking havoc. Nobody has heard from Taylor since the bomb went off and during the raid, 26 people were killed. The Phoenix group are the bad guys and have basically taken the colony hostage while they look for Taylor. Jim is known to be close to Taylor so Jim pretends to be deaf and disoriented from the explosion. Jim is really sneaking out to locate Taylor after receiving his hidden message.

Lucas and his goons are preparing to destroy the land for meteoric iron. One of them kills an innocent Brachiosaurus. Bastard!! I hope you get eaten. They set up a bomb to blast the land and one of Taylor's soldiers diffuses it. Cut to Taylor throwing a massive Sawyer-From-Lost tantrum. It's kind of hilarious. Thus begins Taylor ruining Lucas' plans one by one.

Lucas now has a lot of anger in him. When he gets rough with Skye, Josh loses it and gets a few punches in for his girlfriend's murder. It's not long before Lucas and his goons turn Josh into a human punching bag. Jim shows up to save him but gets thrown into the brig where he is tortured for information on Taylor. Jim eventually escapes and he grabs his family to sneak out of Terra Nova.

Lt. Washington offers to stay behind and distract the guards because it's the only way they can escape. She makes the ultimate sacrifice and is killed by Lucas. Jim delivers a message to Taylor from Washington and it inspires his new plan of action. He wants to take out the portal in 2149 so the bad guys can't get in and out. Unfortunately, this will also cut Terra Nova off from the future completely. It's risky. How can they live without a supply of meds technology?

Jim is the one who goes back to 2149. It's a short trip for him. Skye lulls Lucas into a trap so Jim can sneak back to 2149 in some cargo. That cargo would be a very hungry and pissed off dinosaur. Jim lets this dino loose on the bad guys and I get my wish when the Brachiosaurus murderer gets eaten. Woot. He detonates a bomb and hauls his ass back through the portal to Terra Nova.

Lucas escapes and meets his father in a field somewhere where dear old daddy can give him an ass whoopin. Lucas is quite the actor. He sobs and tells Taylor that he thinks he blamed Lucas for the death of his mother. They hug and just when you think Lucas is legit, he stabs Taylor. Before he can finish Taylor off, Skye shoots him a few times. When they look up however, Lucas is gone. Is he alive? I hate to say it but, I hope so. There's something about him I enjoy seeing on the show.

The bad guys flee Terra Nova and head North to the badlands so that Jim and Taylor and everyone else can return to the colony. There's only one mystery left. And it's a doozy. The mystery package that was discovered and meant to be transported back to 2149 is a carving of a woman. The kind you would see on the front of a ship. What would an old piece of a ship be doing 65 million years in the past.

My brother now believes it will turn out to be like Planet of the Apes where they start realizing they're not in the past. What do you think? Here's hoping Terra Nova gets rightfully renewed!
