It appears that the book-to-film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey has a hit a road bump. It has been revealed that actor, Charlie Hunnam, will NOT be portraying the dark, tortured billionaire that is Christian Grey after all. Apparently this is due to scheduling conflicts of Hunnam’s hit show, Sons of Anarchy. Universal Pictures and Focus Features released a joint statement commenting on the news.
"The filmmakers of Fifty Shades of Grey and Charlie Hunnam have agreed to find another male lead given Hunnam's immersive TV schedule which is not allowing him time to adequately prepare for the role of Christian Grey".
However, there are no ill feelings and Fifty Shades author, E. L. James even took the time out to tweet, "I wish Charlie all the best. x”.
Filming was set to begin on Nov. 5th in Vancouver, which really puts the filmmakers in a tight spot, as they now need to either find another actor or delay filming.
I’ve already voiced my opinions about being against the book being made into a movie, but since it’s clearly going to happen, the filmmakers should at least get an actor who looks the part. When I think of what Christian Grey looks like, I don’t see Hunnam at all.
What do you guys think? Who should play Christian Grey now? Let me know!
