Recap of Glee: “Tina in the Sky With Diamonds”
And Your Nominees Are…
Sue Sylvester comes over the loudspeaker and reads of the nominees for prom king and queen. Blaine and Artie land nominations for king. Kitty gets a nomination even though she’s only a sophomore and Tina lands a nomination, which puts her on a power trip. She dumps Sam as her date for prom. She starts to sing “Revolution”, but then the bell rings and everyone leaves her.
Facing Facts
Rachel tells Santana that she’s pretty sure she didn’t get the part as Fanny Brice in ‘Funny Girl’. Santana tells her not to jump to conclusions because she doesn’t know that for sure. Santana also tells Rachel that she landed her first commercial, promoting, Yeast-I-Stat, and new anti-fungal medication for women with yeast infections.
Polio
Bummed about being dumped by Tina, Sam talks to Mr. Schuester about how The Beatles don’t have any songs that Sam can relate to when it comes to what happened with Tina. Sue interrupts them by announcing she’s ordering mandatory vaccines for everyone, starting with the Polio vaccine. Mr. Schuester tells her that Polio hasn’t been around since the 1950s and Sam makes his fear of needles known. However, Sue isn’t buying it and tells Mr. Schuester that if he doesn’t have his kids vaccinated by the end of the week, he’s fired. Sam goes to the nurse and meets Penny, who is a sophomore in college and is pretty much interning as a nurse at McKinley with the hopes that it will help her get into nursing school. Sam’s fear of needles takes over and he runs out of the nurse’s room.
Where’s Your Mojo?
Kurt feels as if Rachel has officially lost her mojo and promises to help her get it back. The two end up singing, “Get Back” in one of the NYADA classrooms.
A Kiss Goodbye
Santana has a crush on the new waitress, Dani (Demi Lovato) and after finding out that Dani is also a lesbian, Santana is pretty nervous because she’s never actually been with a girl who is 100% on the girl’s team. One night after closing, Rachel leaves so that Santana can spend more time with Dani. The two watch the sunrise together and sing, “Here Comes the Sun”. Santana walks Dani home and before parting, Dani gives Santana a sweet, little kiss goodnight.
Please Don’t Fire Her
Sam has a crush on Nurse Penny and does whatever he can to get him in to see her (including biting himself). San sings, “Something” as way to express how he feels. Sam finds out that Sue fired Penny for being incompetent. To prove to Sue that Penny is a good nurse, Sam let’s Penny give him his mandatory vaccine. Sam runs to Sue’s office and begs her to not fire Penny. Sue gives in and rehires her.
A Prom to Remember
Prom opens up with ND singing, “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band”. Afterwards, Sue takes the stage to announce the prom king and queen. Tina wins prom queen, but little does she know her victory won’t be so sweet. In an epic Carrie scene, Bree, along with Tina’s assistant Dottie, came up with a plan to ruin Tina’s night. After promising her a spot on the Cheerios, Dottie went a bought a bunch of red slushie, put in a bucket, tied it to a rope, and set on the beamer above where Tina stands. On Bree’s cue, Dottie pulls the rope and red slushie pours down onto Tina. The crowd starts to laugh hysterically and in true Carrie fashion, the bucket falls onto the prom king’s head, knocking him out. However, Tina doesn’t start killing off her classmates like in the classic film. Tina runs into the glee classroom, followed by the rest of ND. Tina wants to go home, but Blaine tells her she’s got a choice: She can either go home or she can go back out there and rule prom. Kitty gives Tina her prom dress and they all sing, “Hey Jude” while cleaning Tina up. Tina goes back out and gets on the stage and accepts her prom queen victory.
Mini Me
Sue is impressed with the prank Bree pulled on Tina. She promotes her to captain of the Cheerios, tells Bree she reminds her of her when she was younger, and tells Bree to go after the glee club with all she’s got. Sue feels that glee club did better when they had an enemy.
“Let it Be”
“Funny Girl” director, Mr. Campion, comes into the diner and asks to see Rachel. He asks her if the diner serves whole cakes and before Rachel walks away to get it, the director asks her to write, “Congratulations Rachel Berry, you are Fanny Brice”. The entire cast sings, “Let it Be”.
Next week’s episode, “The Quarterback” will probably be the saddest episode to date as everyone bids farewell to Finn Hudson. You can see a mini preview here.
