Switched at Birth - 1x18 - The Art of Painting - Recap

Emmett is starting to crumble a bit. He's struggling with speech therapy and getting frustrated. His step mom's advice is to give him a bottle of whiskey and relax. I never thought I'd like Melody until now. Emmett tells Bay he wants to quit school and get his GED because it's not necessary to become a photographer. He then tells Daphne he wants to quit the Yearbook club also. Bay begins to worry about Emmett and forces herself to go to Melody for help. She doesn't want to be a tattletale but she must really be worried if she's willing to talk to Emmett's mother of all people.

Daphne and Kathryn are both struggling with making the right decision. Daphne finds herself having to choose between her two schools. She learns the basketball team at her old school may be cut due to budget problems. Since the team is under-performing, it will be one of the first to go. Buckner on the other hand, is getting donations left and right and don't seem to appreciate them. Daphne decides to go back to her old school to help save the team.

Kathryn worries when the nurse who was testifying for them announces she may back out. Being involved with the case has caused her to be fired and unable to get another job. Kathryn goes against her husband's wishes and sells her car to give her some money. I can't understand why he has any reason to be mad at her. It's her car she can do what she wants.

Regina preps for her first art show at the gallery and is stunned to learn that the program has her listed as "that lady who had her daughter switched at birth." She can't be furious for too long because Emmett and both his parents are also in attendance and sparks are about to fly. They get into a heated argument when Emmett shows up smelling like alcohol and Melody wants to fight for full custody. Emmett realizes that Bay told Melody about his plans for school. Are Bay and Emmett going to break up?
