U Should Know Better - Robyn

Written by Adriana Morales

Swedish recording artist, Robyn, just released the visuals to "U Should Know Better" a few hours ago. A track that features none other than our favorite dog, er, lion, er... okay... whatever he is, we still love him - Snoop Dogg! Yes, what a combination! Robyn brings her usual mix of influenced 80's New Wave/Synth-Brit-Electro-Pop-Dance beats and melodies. Cute, quirky, and cool; this girl's got something about her that makes her stand out.

Her personal style and infectious dance moves keep me wanting to see more of her. She isn't one of those artists that release new music or promotional material every month but when she does, it's mint. If you haven't heard of Robyn until now, you should check out songs like "Be Mine" - a song about a love that never really was, and probably never will be hers. As sad as that is, the beat may cause you to tap your feet along as you listen.

Then there is "Call Your Girlfriend" which causes me to chuckle at times when I hear it. The song is about a guy she is seeing who is still in a relationship but wants to leave it to be with Robyn; she repeats throughout the song that he should call his girlfriend and tell her that he's leaving her, but to let the girl down easy so as not to her hurt her more than she probably is already. Miss Robyn goes on to instruct him that he should also remind his soon-to-be ex that she will find love again one day and even though it may not make sense, they can still be friends. Superb advice, no? You can also get a full routine of her notable dance moves in that video as well.

Another catchy track is "Hang With Me". A simple message with a simple sound yet it was quickly put on "repeat" in my ipod for some time after the first listen. "Dancehall Queen" is a track that sends off a laid-back Caribbean vibe as she sings about heading to a night club to dance by herself; stealing the spotlight on the dance floor from everyone else.

Robyn is known to break the mold that she sort of places herself in each time you think you know her style but it can be said that the whole dance/pop scene is where she most certainly fits in best. Check out the new music video and enjoy!
