Good Luck Charlie - Special Delivery - Recap

With Duncan baby number five due any day, Amy and Bob have been scrambling around to get everything perfect for the arrival of their little one. Now it's a week past Amy's due date and the baby still hasn't come! Teddy's afraid that the baby will end up being born on Charlie's birthday. To avoid this, she tries to help induce labor by any means possible including spicy food, bouncing, and even stealing a special salad dressing from a restaurant. Nothing's working!

In the meantime, with a new family member in the mix, the Duncans are going to need a bigger car to fit everyone. PJ and Bob go down to the dealership and come away with a coveted Saranade car. Both guys are smitten with the car until they pull up to the house and realize it doesn't fit in the garage. After numerous failed attempts, Bob decides he's taking the car back to the dealership. Instead of reversing though, he jams his foot on the gas pedal, crashing the car into the kitchen. Yikes!

Since Bob was busy car shopping, he sent Gabe out with money to go pick up the only gift Charlie wants for her birthday, a doll. Gabe and his friend Jake head down to the store with the sole purpose of buying the doll, when they notice a new video game on display. After some peer pressure from Jake, Gabe gives in and uses the money his dad gave him to buy the game. Everything's going fine until Gabe starts hallucinating that his dad is talking to him about his actions. Naturally Gabe starts feeling guilty and decides to return the game and buy the doll instead. Unfortunately since it's already open, he's not able to return it.

Tomorrow's Charlie's birthday, but Amy's too tired from her pregnancy to oversee the party. It's now Teddy's responsibility to make sure everything goes down according to plan. This doesn't seem like too hard of a task, until she realizes her mom hasn't even mailed out the invitations! Oh no! If Charlie's going to have any kind of party, Teddy needs to start acting fast. She tries calling up some of Charlie's friends, and stores around town, but it's too last minute and no one can accommodate her. Finally she resorts to bringing Charlie to the park to celebrate her big day.

This all comes to a halt though when Amy feels the baby coming on. After doing everything they can to make sure the baby wasn't born on Charlie's birthday, that's exactly what's happening. Since Bob crashed the family car into the kitchen, Teddy has to drive her parents over to the hospital in her car. Everything is smooth sailing until her car runs out of gas. Uh oh! It looks like their only other option now is to take a ride from an ice cream truck driver. Well, this shouldn't be too bad, it's only a ride right? Turns out Amy's going into labor and won't make it to the hospital in time. It's up to Teddy and Bob to deliver the baby themselves, which they do in the back of the truck.

While Teddy's driving her parents to the hospital, Gabe and PJ are left to entertain Charlie at her party. They decide to bring out her old dolls for the occasion, but that's not good enough for Charlie. Instead, she tricks the guys into dressing up as princesses and putting on a show for her.

The whole family finally does make it to the hospital where we find out it's a boy named Toby. That's the name Gabe suggested earlier (which was actually voted on by viewers of the show). Amy is convinced that Charlie is going to be disappointed that she now has to share a birthday with her baby brother. Turns out, Charlie is thrilled about the addition to the family and that Toby's the best birthday present.

A few days later, the family heads back home. We find out that that Amy and Bob did eventually buy the doll for Charlie. As punishment though for blowing the doll money, Gabe has to change Toby's diapers. Teddy welcomes Toby into the new home, by showing him around the place, which includes a stop at the collection of family pictures on the wall.
