Cory Monteith began filming the crime drama McCanick this week in Philadelphia. The movie also stars Superman Returns' Brandon Routh and Chestnut Hill's David Morse. It should be interesting to see Monteith take on this kind of roll, which sounds very far from his Finn Hudson persona on Glee. The cast has already been seen filming outside City Hall. Check out all the details on McCanick below:
The "Glee" star is going to get to play the bad guy as he's been booked for the old-school cop thriller, "McCanick," according to Variety.
"McCanick" stars David Morse as Eugene 'Mack' McCanick, a narc who gets caught up in a web of paranoia and violence after a young criminal (Monteith) is released from prison. Over the course of a day, McCanick and his partner (Brandon Routh) track down the ex-con, who holds the key to something dark and nasty from McCanick's past.
The film is being described as a throwback to the gritty cop thrillers of the '70s such as "Dirty Harry" and "The French Connection" as it tells its mythic character-driven tale of revenge and obsession.
First of all, this sounds awesome. Second of all, bonus points for casting Finn Hudson from "Glee" as the villain. We can't quite picture it, and that makes it all the more enticing. And it's also nice to see "Superman Returns" star Brandon Routh doing something that isn't "Dylan Dog: Dead of Night."
Production on "McCanick" will commence later this fall under the direction of Josh C. Waller, whose "Hostel"-like horror film, "Raze," is currently in post-production.Source: NextMovie

Hmm, I wonder if Lea Michele will swing by the set at all. I know California is a little far from Philly, but she's is from New York, and that's right around the corner. Should we call a philadelphia wedding photographer if that happens? What can we say?! We love us some Monchele.
