Calling all Harry Potter fans…the magic still lives on!!!
J.K. Rowling, author of the legendary, groundbreaking series that became legendary films, which became a prominent symbol of my generations’ childhood, is not quite ready to hang up her wand just yet.
Rowling is again partnering with Warner Bros. Entertainment. Only this time around it will be for a Harry Potter spin-off series based on the Hogwarts textbook, “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” by fictional author, Newt Scamander. If you remember, this textbook was introduced in Harry’s third year for his, ‘Care of Magical Creatures’ class.
In the past, Rowling had said time and time again that she wouldn’t go back to the wizarding world once the last film came out unless she came up with an idea that she was really excited and passionate about. Well, it looks like she got one!
However, if you’re hoping that Harry, Ron, and Hermione will again be making an appearance, I’m sad to say that this will NOT be happening, as the new spin-off series will take place 70 years before Harry Potter’s time and solely follow Newt’s adventures, starting in New York rather than London.
In a personal statement, Rowling made it very clear that “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”, “is neither a prequel nor a sequel to the Harry Potter series, but an extension of the wizarding world. The laws and customs of hidden magical society will be familiar to anyone who has read the Harry Potter books or seen the films.”
Rowling herself will write the spin-off series directly for the screen, which will also be a first for her.
What do you guys think about this news? Are you excited?? Are you a little upset that Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson will not be reprising their roles?
Please let me know!!
