The biggest shocker for me would have to be the exclusion of Modern Family for Best Comedy series. I can't remember when that show didn't just win every award it was ever nominated for. I gotta say I'm a little bummed Person of Interest didn't make the list or that The Newsroom didn't get more nominations. I'm thrilled to see that Laura Dern was recognized for her work in Enlightened. It's a shame that show was canceled. It was also a pleasant surprise to see Carrie Preston nominated. I'm so happy for her.
I have to admit I haven't seen most of the Best Drama nominees. A lot of these series are only available on cable channels, which I tend to receive periodically depending on how my cable company is acting. In fact, only recently did we even get BBC America. I wouldn't have been able to watch Wild Things with Dominic Monaghan and there are still probably some cable providers that don't carry it. Which is a shame because some of the best programs come from across the pond. If you're thinking of switching over to some other company if your current cable company isn't making the cut, cabletvadvisor.com/cable-tv-companies is a good tool for comparing and contrasting to find the right choice for you.
I have to say I'm really excited to see American Horror Story: Asylum receive its much deserved recognition. That is by far one of our favorite shows on television right now. Each episode is so intriguing, constantly leaving us to want more and more. Plus, it's completely different from everything else on television.
How many shows can you think of that includes an exorcism and aliens in one episode? Jessica Lange, James Cromwell, Zachary Quinto, Sarah Paulson and Lily Rabe all proved why they earned their nominations. The only disappointment came with Evan Peters' snub. He was brilliant in the role of Kit Walker. It's a shame but we have faith that next year he'll finally earn his much deserved nomination when he stars in season three of the series
