Pretty Little Liars is getting pretty heated since its summer, season premiere on June 11. Tuesday night’s episode definitely showed that everyone’s starting to feel the burn.
Who killed detective Wilden: Melissa or Hanna’s mother? What does Melissa know? Did Toby’s mother really kill herself…or did someone make it look like she did? Is Emily’s swimming future over? And oh yeah,WHO IS RED COAT??
Recap of Pretty Little Liars: “Face Time”
Family Portrait
Emily’s dad comes home now that social services has come calling. Emily goes to her doctors office to convince Dr. Vargas that there’s nothing wrong at home and he should call social services to tell them that. Emily also finds out that due to her shoulder injury, she’ll need to rest and there might be a possibility of surgery. So swimming is out of the question.
Secrets Don’t Stay Secret
Caleb tells Hanna that her mother returned to Rosewood from her business convention in New York earlier than expected and went to see Hanna’s father, asking him for money. Then there’s the part where Hanna’s mother may or may not have stolen Hanna’s father’s gun because her father discovered it was missing after her mother left. Hanna goes to visit her mother at work and is surprised when she sees her mother coming from the vault, holding a metal box in her hand, followed by Officer Holbrook and Lt. Tanner (the ones handling the Wilden case). The box turns out to be Wilden’s and contains: money (obviously), but tons of it, an American passport, a Canadian passport, and a gun. Is this getting weird yet?
Did You Tell Her Yet?
Hanna keeps pushing Spencer to tell Melissa about finding her mask at Hector’s studio because Hanna thinks Melissa is “A” and if she is, then she might be the one who murdered Wilden, which would put Hanna’s mom in the clear, which is all Hanna really wants.
Crooked Man
Hanna talks with Lt. Tanner. Hanna thinks that Wilden was not the honest man he portrayed himself to be (what gave it away?) and maybe, just maybe, he might’ve been involved with the Russian Mob, but I have this gut feeling that it’s safe to rule that out. Hanna mentions that Melissa and Wilden went to high school together and were pretty close. It’s obvious Hanna’s desperately trying to throw the spotlight off of her mother even for a just a minute. But if Hanna thought her planned worked, she’s gotta get back to the drawing board. Holbrook and Tanner come knocking on Hanna’s door asking for her mother. Thank all that is right with the world for Caleb, who saves the day.
A Visit to the Past
Toby finds Dr. Palmer, his mother’s doctor at Radley. Toby is hoping Palmer can help get some answers, but it becomes clear that’s not going to happen when Toby realizes Palmer is no longer a doctor due to his Alzheimer’s. However, Toby does get something solid out of his visit: one of his mother’s visitors at Radley was Allison.
Coming Clean
Aria finally comes clean to Jake about her past relationship with Ezra Fitz after she and Jake have a run-in with Ezra’s son, Malcolm. Jake doesn’t believe that Aria is really over Ezra (neither do I) and pretty much tells her that she needs to figure out if there’s still something left there once and for all.
Answers and Revelations
Spencer cleverly hides the mask in Melissa’s suitcase, which Melissa discovers and immediately sets off for Hector’s studio. Spencer and Aria follow her there. Spencer confronts Melissa and demands the truth once and for all. And what it all comes down to is: Melissa has been trying to protect the pretty liars since before all the drama and all the corpses started. Wilden was being told by someone to kill the liars. Melissa doesn’t believe that Allison is really dead, but there’s more to it that she wouldn’t say. Hanna admits that she thinks her mother killed Wilden and “A” knows…dun, dun, dun.
The Broken Can Be Fixed
The mystery person with the black gloves is super-gluing one of Melissa’s broken face molds back together…. but what for?
