Tuesday night’s episode of Pretty Little Liars showed that the pretty liars may be one step closer into figuring out what happened to Ali the summer she disappeared. Hanna makes a shocking discovery. Aria’s mom becomes the latest victim in the “A” saga. And to top it all off, it’s college weekend.
Recap of Pretty Little Liars: “Gamma Zeta Die”
Spencer’s mom arranges for Spencer to meet with private admissions counselor, Brendan McGowen so she can still have a shot of going to an Ivy League school. Spencer is not pleased about this. It also looks like Melissa has disappeared off to London to begin her internship.
It’s college weekend at Rosewood High and all the seniors are off to spend a weekend at prospective college of his or her choosing. Aria’s mom, Ella, informs them that this is a time for them to figure out where they want to go and what classes are offered at the college each students picked.
Spencer tells Aria and Emily that she’s more focused on following the Ali trail, but without Melissa or a connection to York County with the number Tippy the parrot so generously sang to Spencer over and over again, they’ve got nothing. Then Spencer has one of those “eureka” moments and remembers that there’s a college in York County, Cicero College to be exact. The area code and the first three digits of the contact number match the number Tippy gave the girls.
Aria finds out that her mother is no longer going to Europe with her boyfriend and questions why. Sitting in the car, Ella tells Aria her bother, Mike, is not comfortable with her leaving for a few months. After Aria gets out of her mom’s car, she receives a text from “A” just as her mother is attacked by a swarm of bees inside her car (no, the windows aren’t open).
Emily is at work and ends up meeting Brendan McGowen who is waiting for Spencer. The two begin talking about Emily’s future when Spencer shows up and insists that Emily stay. Spencer tells Brendan that she wants to go visit Cicero College for the weekend and has Emily tag along in the hopes that they can find the guy Ali was hooking up with the summer she disappeared.
Hanna’s mom, Ashley, goes to visit Spencer’s mom, Veronica (she’s a lawyer). Ashley wants advice because she believes the police are building a case against her. Veronica tells Ashley she has a contact at the Rosewood police department.
Hanna is home when her mother comes home with dinner. Ashley receives a call from Veronica and Hanna listens in and realizes her mom might be in real trouble. Hanna goes snooping around the house and finds her mother’s closet locked, which is odd to her because her mother never locks her closet.
Spencer and Emily meet Brendan at Cicero College. Spencer comes up with a plan to ditch Brendan by having Emily keep him occupied.
Hanna picks the lock to her mother’s closet and opens it. In the back of the closet in a black bag, Hanna finds a gun, which may or may not be the very same gun her father said was missing from his office.
Spencer finds out the phone number is located on campus on Greek row. Emily tells Spencer that she’s looking into a sorority scholarship because she actually wants to go to Cicero. The girls up in the Zeta Phi sorority house.
Hanna catches up with Spencer at Cicero and shows her the gun that she believes killed Wilden. Spencer tells her to sit tight while she gets Emily. While looking for Emily upstairs, Spencer comes across this hidden room, which is more like a bunker. She picks up the phone in the room and calls Aria. The number that shows up on Aria’s phone is the exact number that the girls have been trying to trace.
Hanna ends up leaving the sorority party, but not before Emily spots her. Emily goes after her. Spencer goes after Hanna as well. Emily and Spencer bump into each other. Hanna is in the middle of trying to bury the gun when cops surround her. Hanna is immediately arrested and escorted to the cop car. Emily and Spencer arrive just as Hanna gets into the car. Spencer gets a text from “A”.
The mystery person in the black gloves holds up a group picture of Zeta Phi with their old housemother, Carla Grunwald…but what makes her so important?
