“Welcome to the Hotel California”…well, sort of, not really. Monday night’s episode of Teen Wolf picked up where last week’s episode ended and things got pretty emotional. A big secret was revealed at the end of the episode that is bound to shake things up in the future. Beware, things get a little crazy in this episode.
Recap of Teen Wolf: “Motel California”
Flashback
In 1977, a man checked into The Glen Capri motel. After being bitten by a werewolf, he shot himself just before he transformed. The man’s name? Alexander Argent…
Present
The cross-country meet has been pushed to the next day, so everyone is spending one night at The Glen Capri. Not long upon arriving, weird things start to happen with Scott, Isaac, Boyd, Ethan, and Lydia.
Scott
Scott enters the bathroom when Allison is in the shower. Imagine Allison’s face when she sees Scott standing there, like he’s lost in some kind of trance. Scott tells her he doesn’t remember why he’s there and walks away.
Scott later receives a phone call from his mother and finds her standing outside the motel with Deucalion who then kills her. But luckily, we can all breathe a huge sigh of relief because none of that actually happened…
Boyd
Stiles goes down to the vending machine and finds Boyd there. Just like Scott, Boyd is also seemingly lost in some sort of trance. When the vending machine doesn’t give Boyd his candy bar, Boyd punches the glass casing and takes the candy bar.
Later on, Boyd goes fill his ice bucket when he hears a young girl’s voice asking him why he left her alone. Apparently that young girl was Alicia, Boyd’s little sister, who drowned…
Lydia
Lydia finds out the motel is notorious for having the most guest suicides, with the current number being 198. She begins to hear the voices of the people who killed themselves in the motel in the past and recruits Allison to help figure out what’s going on. They go back to the check-in desk and realize that number hanging on the wall went from 198 to 201 and come to the realization that three more suicides will happen.
Ethan
Ethan and Danny are in their motel room kissing and cuddling when Ethan goes a little crazy. He ends up going into an motel room that is being renovated and turns on a chainsaw. Allison, Stiles, and Lydia come to his rescue and Stiles pulls the chainsaw from his hands. Ethan gets his werewolf claws out and tries to claw himself. It’s only when Stiles and Allison tackle him and he gets burned by a hot plate, that he finally snaps back to reality with no notion of what happened.
Isaac
Isaac is sitting in his motel room, zoned out, filliping through the TV. Isaac falls asleep, but wakes up when he hears footsteps approaching. At first he thinks it’s Boyd, but then he hears his father’s voice (his father’s dead) and hears an argument that he and his father had, which resulted in him being locked inside a freezer as punishment. I don’t know about you, but this certainly did not give me warm feelings…
Speaking of warm feelings…
DEREK
Yes, Derek is very much alive!!! Jennifer takes Derek back to his place so that his body can heal where they end up sharing the night together. Now I think it’s about time Derek start feeling the love, too (that kiss he and Erica shared in season two does NOT count!), but I also think their “relationship” is being rushed for some odd reason .
Lydia
Lydia starts hearing the voices again and this time, the voice serves as a clue as to how the next suicide is going to happen. Someone is going to drown himself…
Boyd
The memory of his sister proves to be too much for Boyd to handle, so he decides to drown himself in the bathtub and has a heavy resting on him so he can’t bring his head up for air. Lydia and Stiles find him and try to get the safe off of him, but they can’t. Lydia remembers Ethan came to when he got burned. Stiles runs to the bus and grabs two flares and races back to Boyd. He throws one of the flares into the bathtub and Boyd jerks back into reality and uses his werewolf strength to pull himself out of the water.
Isaac
Lydia finds Isaac hiding underneath his bed, too scared to come out. After saving Boyd, Stiles throws the other flare at Isaac to jolt him back to reality.
Scott
Allison, Stiles, and Lydia find Scott outside the motel, holding a burning flare while standing in a pool of gasoline. This was the most emotional scene ever in the history of the show. Stiles steps into the puddle of gasoline with Scott and prepares to die with him, but luckily, is able to take the flare from Scott and throw it away.
Back to Reality
The cross-country meet is cancelled. On the bus, Lydia takes the coaches whistle and lightly blows into it, releasing wolfs bane, which affects werewolves. Now if you’ve been keeping up with the season so far, you already know that the dark druid, a.k.a. “Darach”, takes in threes: three virgins, three military men…three werewolves. Ethan tells Scott that Derek is still alive, but now he has a choice: join the alpha pack and kill one of his own, or be killed himself.
OMG!!!!
Allison’s dad goes to visit Gerard! Gerard is now confined to a wheelchair and is still bleeding black blood. Argent asks him the name of the werewolf who bit his uncle, Alexander Argent. Gerard’s answer: Deucalion.
